Roshni Ghar is a mental health and wellbeing charity that provides culturally appropriate and responsive services, aimed predominantly at South Asian women. Based in Keighley, West Yorkshire the organisation covers the Bradford & Keighley District areas.
The organisation aims is to provide a range of support services to women with a diagnosis of mental ill health. The organisation adopts a holistic approach to promoting positive mental health and wellbeing with a particular focus on providing culturally appropriate support in a number of ways. This includes reducing barriers to accessing services and empowering clients to make their own decisions about the support they would like to receive and offering these choices to the wider community.
To provide culturally sensitive support for predominantly South Asian women experiencing mental and emotional distress
To help women manage stressful situations by providing support and equipping them with effective coping skills and service information
To provide a safe space for women to explore issues relevant to their well-being and development and prevent further crisis reactions by equipping them with effective coping skills and service information
To promote a better understanding of mental distress and develop appropriate coping mechanisms
To empower South Asian women to engage more responsively to mainstream services where they may experience barriers
To increase the awareness and choice of available services and improved pathways into those services
To create accessible information and provide pathways for South Asian Women
To provide and promote social inclusion and access to opportunities available to young and adult South Asian women
To provide and promote access to educational and vocational opportunities
